Everyone should go at least once....

Well, I have officially recovered from our trip to D.C. It was incredible! I think that I had a better time than some of the kids. I was amazed most by Arlington. There is no way to capture what it is like to be there. With the war in Iraq, they are averaging 25 funerals a day. Since it was Memorial Day weekend, we were there when the soldiers were laying the flags on the more than 500,000 graves. At each grave site, the soldiers would pause and then measure exactly one boot length from the stone to place the flag. It really was an amazing thing to see.

I loved going with 4th graders. They were well-behaved and seemed to love being there. I can't wait to take them back next year!
