Trying to get home!

Right now I am sitting in a very nice bus station in Portsmouth New Hampshire trying to get home from Boston. My plane doesn't leave until 9:30pm, but I had to be out of my hotel at 1. So, since I didn't want to lug my VERY heavy suitcase all over Boston for some last minute sight seeing, I decided to make my way towards the airport. I had an awesome, extremely busy week that I will have to detail later. I am going to exhaust my principal and teaching partner with all the new things I want to do!

No I just have to figure out how I can get to the New Orleans conference next year (and this time bring Susan with me)!!!

Off to Boston...

Well, early tomorrow morning, (like 2 am), I will be leaving for Boston for a national science teachers conference. Although I am really looking forward to the conference, the traveling is a little nerve racking. I am flying into New Hampshire on Skybus and have to take a shuttle into the city. I hate flying but hate riding in a bus even more! I am hoping to get to my hotel without throwing up!

The conference itself should be amazing! 4 days, ALL SCIENCE! I was suppose to go with my teaching partner, which would have made it 10 times more fun!! She had to cancel for various reasons which means I am traveling alone. Once I get there I will know a few people. I am looking forward to some quality down time in the evenings. All I have to do is get there!!!!

TRIPLE Overtime!!!

That's right, TRIPLE overtime. Today Alex's team played for the county championship. The boys have gone undefeated in both the regular season and the tournament. If they won this game, it was the perfect season, with only 6 boys on the team. The boys have played this team twice already and it was close both times, so we knew we had our work cut out for us. Jay had a great 3 point shot at the buzzer at half time. The boys went ahead by ten in the third quarter, but Batavia pulled up with us to tie it at the end . The highlight of the overtimes was Alex had to do a jump ball. It was hilarious! He was a wreck. Luckily the kid was little and Alex got the ball. After 3 overtimes our boys finally pulled ahead and won. The boys were so tired, I don't think it sunk in. One of the coaches owns a drive in in Owensville and treated the boys to ice cream after the game. I am not sure who was more tired at the end of the day, they boys or their families!

Why Rudy is the best movie ever...

I just caught the end of the movie Rudy which, for those who know me, is my favorite movie of all time. There is no way that you can watch this movie and not be moved. Watching him take the field at the end of the movie and having his teammates carry him off the field has got to be one of the most inspirational scenes ever filmed. The struggles he went through, working in the stadium, living in the boiler room, applying each semester to Notre Dame only to be turned down just makes you ache.

If you have never seen this movie, you MUST watch it. It is a wonderful story about having a goal and not letting anyone or anything get in your way. I promise you will feel good at the end.

"Rudy... Rudy... Rudy... Rudy..."

WhoDey Snowman

Abby made this a well-endowed snow woman with a few tennis balls, but I removed them.

Blizzard '08

Well, for those who do not live here, we are in the middle of now what is officially being called a blizzard. We are expecting 11-15 inches of snow by this time tomorrow with more on store for Sunday evening. Being the child of 2 teachers, snow has always been a source of celebration. Blowing snow made it hard to go out and play today but maybe we can get out tomorrow. Kids today at school were WIRED as the snow began to fall today. We early released about an hour too late and made it difficult to get them home. As you can see from the picture, Rosie is less than thrilled about the snow. I had to shovel the drift to let her get to the bathroom. Check back for more blizzard pics!

The Rock Star's Encore

When Mom retired a few months ago, it was said of mom that no one knew what a rock star she was. Well, she had her encore when she received the Francis Hickey Child Advocate Award this week. She was chosen because she has spent her career speaking for kids who didn't have a voice for themselves. What made this award extra special is that Fran Hickey happens to be our pediatrician. We LOVE him and can never leave the Cincinnati area because we could never find a doctor half as good! WAY TO GO MOM!

Heading for the Championship

Well after a long weekend watching basketball, I am proud to say we are heading for the championship game next weekend. The boys are so far undefeated and if they can win Saturday we will have the perfect season. They have already beaten the team we are playing twice, but both times it was a great game. Look for pictures next weekend!
